Caterpillar Poems

Waiting to be Me

I started as a tiny egg
Upon a leaf of green,

And now I stay upon the leaf
So I will not be seen.

Soon I'll build a chrysalis
Upon a limb so high,

I'll stay awhile and then come out
And be a butterfly.

If You Will Only Wait

The caterpillar said with a sigh,
to the bumblebee as it was flying by,
“If only I had wings as pretty as you,
I’d be very happy. Please tell me what to do!”

The bumblebee responded with a smile,
“If you will only wait a little while,
you’ll be the happiest one in the sky,
because you’ll be a pretty butterfly.”
