Module # 7.1.3

Connect to Internet via an Internet Service Provider (ISP) with a user ID and password

Getting there

Either form of connection needs a USER ID (user name) and PASSWORD.   These ID's are provided by the ISP.  Not just any user ID will work.   (they also usually charge for the ID's)  The password was set by the ISP, however, you will be given information on how to change it.

The USER ID and PASSWORD are usually stored in the connection software.   Also the PASSWORD is usually masked so that others can not see it.  The USER ID tells the computer system who you say you are, the password proves you are who you say you are.

Exercise #1

Notice on the software, the USER ID that you are using.
