This 3-year $1,320,000 project will modify the method of preparing teachers such that they will apprentice with practicing teachers using technology effectively in their classrooms.  I addition, the connections between teachers, students and university faculty will be strengthened through the use of technology.  Included activities are intensive training opportunities, video classroom observations, Internet based student teacher supervision, and a system-wide sharing of technology best practices.

This 5-year $3,500,000 project will support and follow a cohort of 6th grade students through school and into college.  Dr. Cobitz’s activities on the project include supporting the students in gaining technology skills and using a take home laptop program to both increase parent communication and support learning in the content curriculum.  A rigorous evaluation component makes this not just a school program, but also a research opportunity.
