Module #1.2.3
Use pulldown menus
Getting there
Look across the top of your screen.
WIN95: you should see a bar with the title of the program you are using. Just below
it you will see a row of words starting with "File" This is the MENU BAR.
MAC: you should see a row of words starting with "File" This is the MENU BAR.
Point and click (remember from an earlier unit?) at the word
"File"
WIN95: the menu will stay open when you let up on the mouse button. Point and click
on the word "Print" on the exposed list.
MAC: the menu disappears when you let up on the mouse button. Point and hold on the
word "File" Now move the mouse down the menu until the word
"Print" is highlighted. Let up on the mouse button.
A print dialog box should have opened. Press cancel (Unless you
want your very own personal copy of this page). The other words in that row have
menus that pop down. The items under a word generally are related to the word (and
are about the same in each program).
Exercise #1
Click on each word on the menu bar. find the important ones like
"Save" "Open" "EXIT" "QUIT" "Cut"
"Copy" "Paste"
Remember where you found each of these words since it will help you navigate through new
programs more easily.
