Computer Fundamentals for Teachers
Competency # 1 Computer Operation Skills
Module #1.5.1
Use Printing Options
Getting there
1. Most programs offer printing options when you use the commands "File,
print"
A window will open offering many opportunities.
2. Generally, you can choose the number of copies and what part of your document you
would like to print.
3. Other options are available under "file, page setup"
These options include such things as margins.
(Remember that margins are measured as the free
space between the printing and the edge of the page.)
4. Also included is usually a button called something like "options"
This button will take you to a window that will at the very least offer
you the opportunity to choose orientation. Orientation is one of two types:
Portrait -paper taller than wide
Landscape -paper wider than tall
Exercise #1
Open your word processor and open a document of some type (there should be one
somewhere on the computer). Try to find the printing options. Try printing the
printing the document a couple of different ways. When the document comes out the
way you expect it to, you have completed this exercise!
