Know the three basic types of graphs (bar, pie, line) and their uses
Getting there
BAR or column charts compare data at points, look:
Use this type of chart if you have two or more observations for each data point AND you
are more interested in differences at a give point then trends.
PIE charts compare categories to the whole and each other, look:
Use this type of chart if you have one observation for each CATEGORY AND the categories
combine into a total.
Line charts compare trends, look:

Use this type of chart to see a trend, usually over time.
