Module # 7.2.2

Compose new e-mail (address and subject; explanation of address domains)

Getting there

Each e-mail program is a little different.  To see how to use Eudora, click here

Domain names are kind of strange.  They are like last names for people.  E-mail addresses are like people's names.  They look like this:
cobitz@ncat.edu
The individual person's name is to the left of the @ symbol.  This information is only important to their computer system.
The computer system (domain name) is to the right of the @ symbol.  Your computer system needs to recognize this part of the name.

By the way, the older names end in a 3 digit extension telling you what type of organization the domain is.  So:
EDU = education
GOV = US federal government
ORG = organization
COM = commercial
NET = network provider

WARNING:  Addresses like HOTMAIL.COM and ROCKETMAIL.COM are free addresses and therefore, require no proof of identification.  You therefore don't necessarily know anything about the person on the other end.

Exercise #1
